Q: Where were you before working together?
A: I had no experience. I had attempted and never completed maybe 2 charts. I didn’t have a process or an approach, I just knew that I’d love to learn how to write for big band.
Q: Where would you say you are now?
A: I would say I'm probably the next Count Basie!

Here's Some Tough Love:
Most composers, arrangers, and orchestrators of all levels take way too long when writing music (it's not your fault, you were always taught it was supposed to be hard!).
The result?
You lose that initial kernel of inspiration you were so excited about in the first place.
You constantly encounter writer's block.
You "brute-force" it out, going measure by measure, bar by bar, not feeling great about anything that you're writing...
...if you're even able to write at all.

You write "music" that sounds like MATH, not MUSIC.
